Wahoo's Microsoft Tips Newsletter -
June 2003

In The News This Month...
Tomorrow (June 21) is the longest day of the year for people living in the northern hemisphere and obviously the shortest day of the year if you live in the southern hemisphere. Hooray for summer, I say!! I'm not exactly a winter person. I don't know why I live so far north. Ummm...

Our paintball league is going very well and we've had 6 teams compete so far with 2 (possibly 4 teams) still having to play. The results so far are:

Finnerty vs. Phillips - Winner: Phillips due to Finnerty's team forfeiting
Moyer vs. C. Yungen - Winner: Moyer
Smith & Wahoo vs. Dead Presidents - Winner: Smith & Wahoo

The losers can lose one more time before they are out of the tournament, so there's still a chance for those teams to stay in. Everybody is having lots of fun and can't wait until the next time they play. Good luck to everyone!

With summer arriving, the tourists will be arriving as well. If you're planning on passing through McBride or staying a day or so, stop in to the store and find out where the fish are.

That's that. Thanks for reading!

Did You Know...

An apple, onion, and potato all have the same taste. The differences in flavour are caused by their smell. To prove this, pinch your nose and take a bite from each. They will all taste sweet.

Word Tip: Finding Last Space

Have you ever worked on a large document in Word? You know, one of those long, several day projects that we all love to hate? The bad thing is when you open the document, your cursor sits at the very top. You end up scrolling all over trying to figure out where you left off. What can you do?

Just hit Shift - F5 and you will be transported to the position your cursor was at when you saved the document, be it top, bottom, or middle.

Internet Explorer Tip: Webpage Last Updated

Have you ever been on a web site and wondered when it was last updated? This information comes in handy for stuff like news sites, stock sites, and / or any site that has time critical information posted on it.

If you want to find out when a particular page was last updated, head to the page and type the following line into your address bar:

Try it out on our home page here.

Note: your browser must be java - enabled in order to do this. (That's about 99.9% of you.)

That's all well and good, but unless you're a web designer, chances are you're not going to remember how to do that a month from now. So what's an easy way to remember it? Add it to your Favourites.

Now, this isn't as easy as it sounds. If you just try adding it to your Favourites, you'll find that it doesn't work, you get the web page you're visiting instead. So, here's a workaround:

1. Add a web page to your Favourites. It doesn't matter what page it is. When the "Add To Favourites" screen pops up, re-name the page "Last Update" (no quotes) or something similar.

2. Now, click your Favourites menu and find the favourite you just added. Right-click it and select Properties from the resulting menu. Not surprisingly, a properties screen pops up.

3. Finally, put the line below in place of the current URL:

You'll probably get an error message when you change it, just hit "yes" if this pops up. That should do it. Click the Last Update favourite any time you're on a page and want to know when it was last updated.
